APPLICATION+

We design and create the interactive activity that the turbine powers. This helps the students directly visualize the power generated by our turbine. We also work behind the scenes updating the Woven Wind website and promotional material.

BLADES+

Blades subteam is all about making the blades of the turbine: designing, manufacturing and testing the blades in order to convert wind energy into rotation of the shaft.

ELECTRICAL+

We are responsible for designing the electrical system for the wind turbine. We take the power outputted by the generator and convert it into DC power that the Arduino can use. With that Arduino, we control sensors and emergency braking.

OUTREACH+

It's purpose is to provide educational support in the area of clean energy and wind turbines. It combines all the knowledge of all the technical teams of Woven Wind and creates an enriching and engaging learning lesson to our partnering institution.

STRUCTURE+

Structure ensures that the base of the wind turbine stays stable on the roof and is able to maintain the weight of the upper components (transmission box, blades etc.) safely and through a variety of seasons.

TRANSMISSION+

Transmission is responsible for everything between the rotation of the blades and the electrical output. We design gear systems, brake systems, and design and manufacture parts inside the housing of the turbine.
